The Sleeping Beauty
& The Virtuous
This spring, prepare to be transported into a world of magic, grace, and timeless storytelling with Sleeping Beauty: The Virtuous Performance, presented by the Oklahoma Youth Arts Foundation, Oklahoma Dance Center, and Oklahoma Youth Ballet. The production will take place on Saturday, May 24, 2025, and promises to be a truly unforgettable experience for audiences of all ages.
Under the visionary artistic direction of Savannah Lee, this adaptation of the beloved classical ballet blends tradition with innovation, honoring the original Petipa choreography while weaving in fresh creative elements that highlight the virtues at the heart of the story—grace, courage, joy, and love. Brooksher, known for his passion for youth development and artistic excellence, has brought together a dynamic team of instructors and collaborators from across Oklahoma to make this production truly special.
What makes Sleeping Beauty: The Virtuous Performance unique is its celebration of community collaboration. Dancers from multiple area studios have been invited to audition and take part in this production, ensuring a diverse and talented cast that reflects the spirit of unity and shared artistic purpose. Through this inclusive model, we provide young performers with a professional stage experience that fosters growth, confidence, and teamwork.
Act I will feature a beautifully curated rendition of Sleeping Beauty, showcasing elegant classical ballet technique, lush costuming, and emotionally rich storytelling. Act II shifts into a vibrant showcase of additional styles including jazz, contemporary, tap, and character pieces—a tribute to the versatility and breadth of talent being nurtured at the Oklahoma Dance Center and through the Oklahoma Youth Arts Foundation.
